Depending on the project, you may qualify for a grant that helps towards the cost of installation.

Low Carbon Buildings Programme Phase 1 - Homeowners

Homeowners in the UK can apply for grants from the Low Carbon Building Programme Phase 1 (LCBP). To obtain a grant you must appoint a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited installer who uses an MCS accredited product.

• Solar Thermal Hot Water - overall maximum of £400 or 30% of the relevant eligible costs, whichever is the lower.
• Air Source Heat Pumps - overall maximum of £900 or 30% of the relevant eligible costs, whichever is the lower.
• Ground Source Heat Pumps - overall maximum of £1,200 or 30% of the relevant eligible costs, whichever is the lower.

Low Carbon Buildings Programme Phase 2 - Public Sector Buildings

Public sector building including schools, hospitals, housing associations, local authorities along with charitable bodies have now become eligible under Phase 2 (LCBP2).

Organisations can apply for up to 50% of the cost of installing approved Microgeneration technologies. More information can be found on the Low Carbon Buildings (Phase 2) site.
