Solar energy is free and available to all those wishing to exploit it.
By installing solar thermal systems, manufacturers generally advise up to 70% of annual hot water needs can be obtained. They can also be integrated into the heating system to further reduce running costs and also reduce carbon emissions.
Both evacuated tubes and flat plate collectors work on the same principle. They capture solar energy and transfer the heat to a cylinder and or heating system.
Flat plate collectors are usually less expensive than evacuated tubes and resemble a roof or sky light. They can be integrated into the roofline or mounted over existing tiles as a retro-fit.
An antifreeze mix is passed through the entire plate profile which absorbs the solar energy that is then transferred to the hot water system.
Evacuated tube collectors utilise liquid copper conductors suspended in vacuum tubes. As the liquid temperature rises, heat is transferred via a manifold system situated on top of the array to the hot water or heating system.
Thermal solar systems are ideal for heating swimming pools and Jacuzzis.
Outside pool temperatures can be up to 4-7°C higher in the summer period than outdoor pools without solar heating.
